How to Live a Healthy and Happy Lifestyle – Part 5

Ajay woke up at 6 am sharp, spent half an hour on a long brisk walk and half an hour on exercises that were once too painful but now, he quite liked. He got both the kids ready just in time for their school bus while his wife made him his favorite spinach and mushroom egg white omelet.

It had been three weeks and he could feel the change in both his physical and mental self. He felt much more active during work and had deep sleep at night. His cholesterol levels had come down.  His frequent meditation made him a more calm and relaxed person which directly translated to more sales for him. Things were starting to look great!

2 Kgs. Radha admits it isn’t much, but it was a start. 3 weeks of fast paced and extremely fun Zumba classes was a great experience for Radha.

She had gotten to make new friends of different shapes sizes, and ages, most of them from similar ‘housewife’ backgrounds. But their goals were the same. Lose weight and stay healthy.

She had gotten used to her new diet and she found that she no longer had irregular hunger pangs. Her chores at home were much easier to do. She finished all her work faster. With all the extra time, she spent more of that time with her daughter. She had never felt more perfect!

Kusum was having the time of her life. She and her husband were currently on a hill hike at Mannali. The chill fresh air seemed so pure and clean that she inhaled a big breath of it. “Having fun dear”? her husband asked. Kusum smiled.

It had been a memorable 3 days and Kusum felt like a young girl. She almost had her diabetes fully under control and she didn’t feel tired at all even though they had been trekking for about 20 minutes.

On reaching the peak, Kusum looked down upon the green valleys beneath her. She had not even made it near the top the last time. She felt proud of herself.

With her husband beside her, Kusum asked “How about for our next vacation, we try the Himalayas”? Her husband chuckled, “I’m up for it if you are”. “Always”, she replied smiling. They were due back home in a few hours. She couldn’t wait!

Siddharth ran like never before. He almost made it. Just a few more meters and he would reach the goal post. With one last look, he blindly kicked the ball before falling onto his hands.

It seemed like forever but he heard the crowd cheer. He had shot the winning goal. His teammates surrounded him and soon, it was trophy time.

Siddharth couldn’t believe it when it was his boss who handed him the ‘Best Player’ trophy. “I see your work performance has improved drastically Sid. Keep up the good work, both at office and on the field”, his boss winked. “Of course sir”, he replied.

Siddharth was breathless, but this time he was happy about it. It had been weeks since he had quit smoking and partying. Things were starting to look much better for him!

“Yaaaay Papaa”, his kids shouted, running at Rahul. He smiled. He had just informed them that they will be going to visit their grandmother’s place later on. It had been a while since they visited and Rahul couldn’t wait to see his parents.

Rahul’s huge stomach was now no more than a little bulge which he was determined to get rid of. He and his kids had begun the routine of doing yoga on their terrace each morning. The stairs had become a regular part of his day and so had gulping down water.

He felt more energized each day and all this working out got him into relaxing sleep each night. His kids were more than proud of him. “Go get ready”, he told his kids. He couldn’t wait to show his family his new look.

The doorbell rang. Kusum opened the door to find her 3 children, Rahul, Ajay and Radha on her porch along with another boy she didn’t recognize. She smiled widely. She hugged her grandchildren and ushered them all inside.

Settling into the hall, they all began their chatters of day to day life. Rahul’s new look had been complimented along with Ajay’s and Radha’s. The 3 adults were happy to find out that their parents had a good time on their vacation.

The doorbell rang again. This time it was Kusum’s neighbor Siddharth. Sid had practically grown up here alongside Rahul, Ajay and Radha. “I got this at the soccer tryouts today!” Sid exclaimed, passing around his trophy.

A big round of congrats were yelled along with “you look great’s!” Siddharth felt right at home and struck up a conversation with Rahul about today’s match.

After a long time, they all had GREAT time!

So here we come to the end of the lives of our 5 friends.
